Privacy Policy
In short: Aethel Wallet is self-custody. Your recovery phrase and private key are created and stored encrypted on your own device and are never sent to us or anyone else. We do not sell data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics. To show balances, preview transactions and make swaps, the wallet sends your public wallet address and transactions to the services listed below.
1. What stays on your device
The extension stores the following only in your browser's extension storage. We cannot see it.
- Your recovery phrase, encrypted with your password (PBKDF2 key derivation and AES-256-GCM encryption). Your password itself is never stored.
- Your unlocked private key, only while the wallet is unlocked, in temporary session storage that is cleared when the wallet auto-locks or the browser closes.
- Your public wallet address, account name, settings (such as the auto-lock time), the list of websites you connected, cached balances, the positions shown on token pages, and your alerts (price alerts, which coins have setup alerts on, and their last setup result).
Removing the extension deletes all of this from your browser. Your funds stay on the Solana blockchain and can be restored with your recovery phrase.
2. What is sent, and to whom
To work, the wallet makes these requests. None of them include your recovery phrase, private key or password.
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| aethelterminal.com | Your public wallet address, transactions you ask to preview or send, and swap requests | Reading balances, simulating transactions so you see what they would do before approving, sending signed transactions, and swap quotes. Our server passes these requests to our Solana network provider and to Jupiter. |
| Jupiter (jup.ag) | Token addresses, swap and order amounts and, when you swap or place / cancel an order, your public wallet address | Token names, logos and prices (also for price alerts), building swap transactions, and limit orders and recurring buys (created, listed and cancelled through Jupiter's on-chain order programs) |
| Coinbase (api.coinbase.com, api.exchange.coinbase.com) | Price and chart requests (no wallet data) | SOL price in US dollars, and 15-minute price candles for setup alerts |
| GeckoTerminal (api.geckoterminal.com) | The token address of the chart you open (no wallet data) | Price charts on token pages |
These services receive your IP address as part of any internet request and handle it under their own privacy policies. Transactions you send are published on the Solana blockchain, which is public by design: anyone can see the activity of any wallet address.
3. Websites you connect
When a website asks to connect, the wallet shows which site is asking and only shares your public wallet address if you approve. A connected site can ask you to approve transactions or sign messages; nothing is signed without your click in the wallet's own window. You can disconnect sites at any time in Settings. On aethelterminal.com, the website can also send the wallet the positions you opened there (token, amount and cost) so the wallet can show your profit or loss; this is stored on your device only.
4. Alerts, orders and portfolio
Alerts are stored and checked by the extension on your device; notifications are shown by Chrome. Limit orders and recurring buys lock the tokens in an order account on Solana that only your wallet can cancel; Aethel never holds them. The portfolio page and its value history are kept in your own browser's storage.
5. Our website and server
aethelterminal.com is hosted on Cloudflare. Our server does not keep logs of wallet addresses or transactions. To protect the service from overload, it keeps your IP address in memory for about 10 seconds to limit the number of requests; it is not stored. The website remembers a few preferences and your positions in your own browser's local storage.
6. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties except as described above to make the wallet work.
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness or lending.
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels or third-party cookies.
- We never ask for your recovery phrase. Anyone who does is trying to steal your funds.
7. Children
Aethel is not intended for children under 18.
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
